That's why it can be frustrating when you hit the one restaurant in town that you just can't find decent company. And if you have a waitstaff that's not too talkative, then it can make matters even worse. But, thanks to the big change coming to the restaurant industry, things will be changing soon enough.
It's called the "serve yourself" system, and it's becoming the most popular dining style on the block. A new digital ordering system is being installed in some restaurants across the U.S., and it will allow you to pick up your food to go, rather than wait in line and pay for it at a table. The digital ordering system, known as DINE, was created by a company called Next Door Apps. The menus of their restaurants are designed to be slightly different than the traditional restaurant system, which could help liven up the dining experience.
Up until now, restaurants have only offered take-out or delivery services, but now with the new digital ordering system, customers will have more options. It's only available in select cities, but they are working to expand the system as quickly as possible. And, we think the food industry is better off with the "serve yourself" system.
There are several different restaurants that have been chosen to try out the new system, including a few from New York City.Q:
